NEW! - The Little Leapers Program
Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday Mornings
10:00 – 11:30am
This new, FREE program offers parent/child classes for children ages 3 to 5 and their adult caregivers. The program has been designed to help young participants prepare to enter school. The program lessons build skills and experiences in visual arts, science, music, and movement. Each young participant will develop comfort with classroom routines and group activities while building skills so important in early development. The program will be offered in 6 week series from September 2007 through May 2008. Adult participation is required. Spaces are limited. This program has been made possible by an Every Child Counts Grant funded by First 5 Alameda County.

Drop-in Activities
During regular business hours.
Drop-in activities have been designed for children ages 2 through 10 years. Adult supervision is required at all times.

After School Art & Science Program
Fridays
4:00 – 6:00pm
Two session of after school classes take place during the school year. The Fall Session begins in early October and the Spring Session begins in early February. Session run 12 to 14 weeks, meet once a week from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, and conclude with an art show and reception to celebrate the young artist’s work.

Summer Art and Science Camp
Mondays – Thursdays
Full or Half Day
Extended Care Available
Six sessions of summer classes take place between June and August each year. Students may select from one and two week sessions. Experienced educators present courses appropriate for the beginning or continuing student.

Scholarships
A limited number of partial, need-based scholarships are available for after school and summer class participants. Scholarship applicants must complete all the required forms by the publicized deadlines. Scholarship deadlines are well in advance of the start of each session. Please contact the Junior Center staff at 510.839.5777 for more information and to request the required forms.

The following course descriptions highlight the Junior Center's core curriculum for the after school and summer programs. Additional courses may be added each session and will be described in the brochures specific to that session.
