2007-08 Community Events

The following Saturday events are open to the public and take place at the Junior Center of Art and Science (unless otherwise indicated). Please contact the JCAS staff at jrcenter@sbcglobal.net or 510.839.5777 for more information. All ages are welcomed to attend. The activities are designed for children ages 2-12. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Thank you.

6th Annual Star Party @ the Junior Center
October 20, 2007	6:30 - 8:00pm	Free
A free community event! Discover the world around you through a variety of lenses including hand lenses, the human eye, microscopes and telescopes. Gaze at the surface of the moon and explore microscopic worlds. Click here for an event flyer.

Rocket Science Workshop @ the Junior Center
February 2, 2008	11:00am - 2:00pm
	$4 per person (in advance) $6 per person (day of event) Explore the power of water and air pressure through a series of fun experiments and activities. Working as a group, or individually, you will build and launch water rockets, which can fly up to 60 feet in the air. Click here for an event flyer.

Earth Day Celebration @ the Junior Center
April 5, 2008	11:00am - 2:00pm
	$3 per person (in advance) $5 per person (day of event) Children under 2 free. Celebrate the Earth with a fun-filled day of science and art activities designed to share information about how to live more harmoniously with nature. Learn about the wildlife rescue work of the dedicated individuals from Yggdrasil Urban Wildlife Rescue as you meet some of the baby animals currently in their care. Click here for an event flyer.

The Science of Chocolate & Ice Cream @ the Junior Center
May 17, 2008	11:00am - 2:00pm
	A tasty event which explores the science of making chocolate and ice cream. Participants of all ages are invited to enjoy hands-on science experiments and art activities.
