Exhibits
Three educational exhibits are mounted in the Junior Center's "Children’s Gallery" each year. The exhibits are designed for visiting school groups and open to the public. A docent-led tour, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and an art project on the exhibit theme are available to school groups during the school year. Classroom teachers are invited to call the Junior Center staff at 510.839.5777 to schedule a tour.

CALIFORNIA NATIVE AMERICANS
September 4, 2007 - January 12, 2008
This exhibit will explore the culture of California Native Americans through displays of their tools, baskets, food, games, hunting techniques, shelter, and creation myths. Students will enhance their awareness of Native Americans through an exhibit tour, demonstrations, play with authentic games, and an interactive art project crafted from native materials.
AFRICAN AMERICAN INVENTORS
January 29 – April 5, 2008
This exhibit will highlight a selection of the many contributions that African-American inventors and scientists have made to American society. The featured inventors are credited with the creation of items we see around us every day such as the traffic light, the elevator, the fountain pen, and much more. Historical and contemporary inventors will be represented.
This exhibit will be open to the public until July 6, 2008. School tours end June 9, 2008.
Exhibit Fees
$95 per school group, per visit
32 student maximum
Adult chaperones required.
